Foodie explores how might we improve the experience of finding dishes and restaurants that truly excite us

the challenge
People are always searching for that hot, trendy new place. We are creatures of FOMO, and we never want to miss out on that cool new place everyones been going to.
the concept
Foodie shows you dishes based on criteria you have selected as your flavor profile, budget, taste and more. Users search and filter through dishes, not restaurants.
In the generation of Tasty, users are looking for a new way to get their foodie fix.
User behavior
While researching different apps and methods of finding new restaurants, I noticed a difference in how we search for restaurants vs how we look at food on social media. The search for restaurants is so vague, and doesn't tell us anything about what we will experience there. The way we look at food on social media is so visceral and enjoyable.

How might we align these two behaviors for a much better experience?
insights

who is a foodie?
To better understand who is a foodie, I spoke to people about how they find new places to eat. What is important for them? It was critical to understand user behavior before moving forward.
If you've ever looked over at the next table, and asked: "what are they having?" You are probably a Foodie.
