CONCEPT

London Calling

I'll admit it, I have the travel itch. I get it frequently, at least a few times a year, especially when driving past the airport. The time is post corona, and its been a few years since I've traveled so suffice to say, I'm feeling the itch. The destination......London. For the obvious reasons. It's been a long time since I've travelled. Thanks, Corona. Can you believe that happened? Anyway, I wanted to make the trip count, so I joined a London travel group on Facebook to help make the most of it. There were a lot of great insights, tips and tricks.

Left: H.R Higgins coffee and tea. Highly recommend.

Social Proof

I noticed a pattern in the group. People asking for very specific tips and insights they clearly weren't finding elsewhere.

"What can I do with 2 kids in London?"

"Can someone help me plan a trip for 4 days in London?"

"I have the opportunity to travel in May. Any events in London then?"

There are dozens of travel sites and apps, why are people asking complete strangers to plan their trips, or give them advice?

My assumptions? The abundance of travel apps, sites and guides is overwhelming. There are too many options. People want to be given a smaller list of options.

People also wanted to know about "Secret" or "Unique" activities, and not the usual tourist traps.

To see if my assumptions were true I spoke to people about their travel behaviors.

USER INTERVIEWS

User Insights 21 respondents

Group 9 (3) (1).png

71% of respondents said they planned a vacation in the past year, so people are traveling quite a lot. Possibly due to the fact that air travel has become much more affordable due to low cost airlines like Wizzair and Ryanair. People are also starting to realize that making memories, especially with family, is more valuable than things, and are choosing to spend their money on trips.

Despite the love of traveling, a lot of people felt one of the biggest burdens of travel was planning a trip and I needed to understand why before coming to a solution.

What is your top concern when planning a trip?

VISUAL LANGUAGE

Imagery + Color

Two of my big passions are
travel and photography, both being very visceral human experiences. It’s important that the product conveys emotion through vivid imagery, and helps users really envision themselves on their trip.
